Talk with Rita Natálio : Museu Do Encantamento

Rita Natálio will present her project Musée De l'Enchantement, initiated in 2012 in Brazil with Joana Levi, about the relationship between Brazil and Portugal, two countries linked by an history of colonization and violence. Rita Natálio will also discuss the new stage of this project that she develops currently in her residency at the Centre international des Récollets.
Rita Natálio (1983, Lisbon) Researcher, performer, and dramaturgist. Recently, she finished her Masters at the Centre for Subjectivity of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica in São Paulo, with the supervision of Peter Pál Pelbart, where she developed a research about the relations of imitation and invention in individual contemporary life within socio-technic networks (a scholarship granted by the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian). She studied Choreography at Paris VIII University. Her main activity focus on the field of writing, directing performance projects, and following the works of other artists. In her own work, she interlinks artistic research and creation with academic studies in the fields of biopolitics, communication, and philosophy.
Joana Levi (1975, Rio de Janeiro) Director, actress, performer, graduated in philosophy at USP. She develops a research about the intersections between performance and philosophy of science. During the last years, she devoted herself to the creation of contextual and interdisciplinary projects: she directed Rózà, a multimedia show based on Rosa Luxemburgo’s letters (a collaboration with Martha Kiss Perrone) / Casa do Povo (SP). She conceived and directed the site-specific intervention project In_Trânsito – Urban Odysseys, which happened within the metropolitan railway (codirected by Isabel Penoni) / Scenic Stage Grant, 2011. Previously, she was part of Casa Laboratório, directed by Cacá Carvalho, working as an actress and assistant director for 7 years. She acted in José Celso Martinez’s Macumba Antropófaga, at Teatro Oficina; she stared, with Cacá Carvalho, in O Hóspede Secreto, directed by Roberto Bacci / a coproduction between Brazil and Italy
